Watts was born 28 September 1968. After her family relocated to Australia and
Watts made her debut there in For Love Alone (1986). She then appeared in three
TV series: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ(91) as well as Home and Away (91)
as well as Flirting (1991). Watts came to America in 2000. Her first experience
was a struggle as an actress. In fact she was able to play small roles in films
prior to becoming a aspiring actress in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive psychological
thriller. Her rise to international fame was due to this part. Watts was then
cast as a depressed journalist in the horror film The Ring (2002). Because of
her performance as grieving mother in the Alejandro film 21 Grams, she was
nominated to win an Academy Award for Best Actress. Her popularity was growing
with her appearance in I Heart Huckabees (2004). King Kong (2006), Eastern
Promises ((2007)) and The International (2009). Watts received nominations for
an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Impossible (2012)
as Maria Bennett. She starred in films such as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent
(2014) and While We're Young (2015). Watts also continued to play in
blockbusters and appeared in the Divergent franchise (2015-2016).
